What is local SEO?

Local SEO is the work that gets a business found by people searching nearby, mainly in the Google map pack: the three businesses Google shows on a map above the regular results. It covers your Google Business Profile, your website, your reviews and how consistently your business details appear across the web. For most service businesses, the map pack is where the calls come from.

How does a business get into the Google map pack?

Google says local rankings come down to three things, and every part of our work maps to one of them:

  • Relevance: how well your profile and website match what was searched. This is where categories, services and page content matter.
  • Distance: how close you are to the person searching. You can’t move, but a correctly set service area and pages for the towns you cover help Google understand your reach.
  • Prominence: how well known and trusted you are. Reviews, links and mentions from other local sites build it over time.

More detail in our guide to what actually decides map pack rankings.

If your website already works and your profile is the problem, start with Google Business Profile management. If you need the website, the content and the profile handled together, the local SEO plan covers all of it.

How long does local SEO take to work?

The foundations sprint is done in about four weeks, and the growth sprint in eight to fifteen. Profile fixes such as categories and service areas can show within weeks. Moving past well-established competitors usually takes three to six months, depending on how contested your category and town are.

How much does local SEO cost in Metro Atlanta?

Our pricing is published: $450 a month for Google Business Profile management and $1,500 a month for full local SEO with a website included, both month to month. For what drives the price across the wider market and what to watch out for in a quote, see how much local SEO should cost in Metro Atlanta.

Local SEO questions we hear most

Can you guarantee a number one ranking?

No, and nobody honestly can. Google itself says no one can guarantee a top ranking. What we can do is fix what is holding you back, show you your rankings across your whole service area every month, and tell you plainly what moved.

Do I need a storefront to rank in the map pack?

No. Service-area businesses that go to their customers can rank without showing an address. You hide the address on your Google Business Profile and set the area you serve instead.

Do I keep ownership of my Google Business Profile?

Yes. We work inside your account as a manager, never on a copy, and you stay the owner the whole time.

Is local SEO better than Google Ads?

They do different jobs. Ads put you at the top for as long as you pay, and the calls stop when the budget does. Local SEO builds a map pack position that keeps working. Many businesses run both, using ads while their organic position is being built.
